Senior Scientist
Description
The Senior Scientist is responsible for coordinating and leading investigations and
resolution testing. The Senior Scientist will also develop assays for drug concentration determination in
biological fluids using HPLC, LC/MS and LC/MS/MS technologies .
Tasks Performed: • To lead and coordinate event investigations and resolution testing under research and
development(R&D).
• To troubleshoot methods, analytical techniques, and instrumentation to discover clues that could
resolve event investigations.
• To review data to determine any clues and/or correlations that could resolve event investigations.
To assign and overview testing parameters to MD Analysts or BG Analysts.
• To stays up to date on new SOPs, procedures, and techniques.
• To directly interact, interview, and discuss with Team Managers, QC Auditors and Analysts to gather
key hints and proof to resolve the event investigations.
• To organize and conduct meetings with people involved in the event.
• To write an MD report at the end of investigation and/or event testing describing conclusion of testing
done in R&D.
• To develop from medium to difficult assays for drug concentration determination in biological fluids
employing HPLC (UV and fluorescence), LC/MS, and LC/MS/MS technologies.
• To develop extraction methods, establishing injection parameters and troubleshooting.
• To be part of the troubleshooting process during events.
• To troubleshoot laboratory equipment if required.

Specific knowledge
Desired Education: University degree in Chemistry .
Desired Degree: University degree, Master or Ph.D an asset
Desired Major: Chemistry.
Job Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in assay development using HPLC with UV, fluorescence, MS or MS/MS modes of detection for a pharmaceutical company or CRO.
Other Qualifications: Skills: Deductive reasoning skills and systematic approach. Good organizational and time management
skills, attentive to details, good observation skills.
Software: WordPerfect, Access, MS-Office, Random, Dosage, Outlook, Great Plains Dynamics,
ChemStation, Chemstore, Watson.
