Description

Our client is looking for a Medical Advisor to lead the Canadian Medical strategy. The candidate should demonstrate expertise and knowledge of products, disease state, patient treatment trends, clinical trials, and scientific activities within disease areas of interest, especially in rare diseases. He/she develops strategic plans that are aligned with the brand plan and closely contributes, collaborates, and supports different functions in the organization. He/she will proactively bringing KOLs together for the advancement of medical affairs initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of scientific and medical expertise for rare diseases portfolio products, beginning in mid-phase development and throughout the product lifecycle
  • Provision of strategic scientific/medical input in the development of brand medical plans and overall brand plans, including pre-launch and launch periods
  • Support the development and execution of medical affairs plans throughout their lifecycle, including (but not limited to) late phase studies, Investigator initiated trials, data analysis/interpretation, publications, real world data generation, medical consultation meetings and other medical projects
  • Participate in conferences and scientific meetings to maintain knowledge base and keep up-to-date awareness of research in the field
  • Set objectives, track and measure progress of plans and budgets for Canadian medical plans
  • Ensure Canadian needs are effectively communicated to global partners to ensure alignment on strategy and planning at all levels

 

Specific knowledge

 

  • Advanced university degree (M.D., PhD, or PharmD) required
  • More than 10 years of relevant Medical Affairs experience with solid knowledge of the Canadian biotech/pharmaceutical industry
  • General knowledge on drug development and clinical research in a relevant therapeutic area
  • Previous experience in MSL’s role (an asset)
  • Must have experience in launching new products
  • Knowledge of all aspects of drug development and local regulations, including regulations of promotional materials (PAAB)
  • Strong business acumen, including technology skills, business and market knowledge
  • Ability to foster teamwork by working cooperatively and effectively with others to resolve problems and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Demonstrate leadership approach to unite and motivate others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization
